DESCRIPTION:
The Hillsborough Career Pathways Consortium partners work in collaboration to implement several initiatives that help students and educators to understand the pathways available to students in Hillsborough County. These initiatives include "CSI: Career Seeking Investigation," an event with an investigation theme that targets 8th grade students who visit all five campuses Hillsborough Community College (HCC) simultaneously to learn about the various programs offered by the college.
"Amazing Race" an event that targets high school seniors and takes place on the main campus of the college where students "race" from program exhibit to the next collecting stamps on their passports to win prizes; "Career Pathways Connections," a five-day summer seminar for guidance counselors, guidance resource specialists, and career specialists during which they visit all five campuses of HCC and all five of Hillsborough's adult technical centers where they tour the campuses, visit the various programs, talk to instructors, and learn what is available to their students. "Wings of Imagination," a five-day summer seminar for rising 10th grade girls with a theme of career exploration and self-exploration with an emphasis on journal writing and self-identification art projects. "Career & College Fest," a two evening event targeting middle and high school students and their parents with an opportunity to visit exhibits that display the various career pathways in Hillsborough's 29 high schools and the related programs at the postsecondary level. Each of these initiatives involves collaboration that is pragmatic in an effort to help students and educators understand the depth and magnitude of the career pathways available within the consortium.
