DESCRIPTION:

The Indian River State College Adult High School is being revamped so that in the very near future the program will be structured within the Career Pathways model.  The undergirding philosophy is to directly assist students in making the transition from Adult Education to post-secondary career and academic programs and opportunities.

The first components unveiled were the Pre-Health Science Academy during the 2006 – 2007 academic year, the Technology Academy during 2007 – 2008 academic year, and currently the Business Academy during the 2008 – 2009 academic year.  Each includes students from all areas of Adult Education. 

Roll out of the last two components, the Industrial Academy and the Public Service Academy, are scheduled for early 2009.  This presentation will provide an overview of the structure of the Adult Education Academies as well as a preview of the second Career Pathways component.
